tobacin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that helps in treating infections caused by bacteria. tobacin works by stopping the protein synthesis mechanism in the bacteria and kills the bacteria which cause infections. it is not used for viral or fungal infections. tobacin is used in the treatment of bacterial eye infections like conjunctivitis and blepharitis. before using this medication, consult

if you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible.
if it is near the time of the next dose, then skip the missed dose.
take the prescribed dose on your regular time daily.
don't double the dose to catch up with the missed dose..
• tobacin is for only external use • do not miss the dose and follow your doctor advice. don't stop the medication until your doctor informs you • don't use tobacin for longer than 4 weeks if once the cap is opened • use the contact lenses after 15 minutes of installing eye drops • while instilling the drops, don't wipe the tip of the bottle with bare hands or any tissue • maintain at least 10 minutes gap between the use of tobacin eye drops and other eye medications • visual disturbances and itching of the eye if presented for a longer duration (more than 2 weeks) immediately consult your physician • don't blink the eyelids for about 2 to 3 minutes after using drops.
• penicillin + tobacin: concurrent use of these drugs decreases the aminoglycoside effectiveness.
