Contraindicated • Metmin + Contrast media (iodinated): Contrast media increases levels of metformin by decreasing renal clearance • Metmin + Ethanol: Ethanol increases toxicity of metformin by excessive etoh consumption may alter glycemic control Serious • Metmin + Verapamil: Verapamil may inhibit metabolic uptake of metformin by oct1 transporters • Metmin + Cimetidine: Cimetidine may decrease the renal elimination of metformin and thus lead to an increase in metformin plasma concentration • Metmin + Crizotinib: Crizotinib may alter the efficacy and renal elimination of metformin.
