Melanocyl lotion is a prescription medicine that belongs to a group of medicines called psoralens. It is used along with controlled ultraviolet light for the effective treatment of certain skin diseases like vitiligo and psoriasis. Melanocyl lotion is for external use only. Use it only under the direct supervision of your doctor. The affected area should be clean and dry before application.

Babies: It is unsafe to use in babies.
This lotion is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age.
Lactating mothers: Melanocyl lotion is probably safe to use during breastfeeding.
This medicine does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Pregnancy: Melanocyl lotion is unsafe during pregnancy, as this medicine shows harmful effects on the developing baby.
Driving: Melanocyl lotion is unsafe to use while driving, as this medicine can make you dizzy and have other side effects that make you less alert.
These side effects could affect your ability to drive.
Alcohol: You are recommended not to consume alcohol along with melanocyl lotion to avoid unpleasant effects.
Alcohol can make you dizzier.
Kidney: Melanocyl lotion to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of kidney diseases.
The dose may have to be adjusted by your doctor.
Liver: Melanocyl lotion to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of liver diseases.

If you miss an application, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next application, ignore the missed dose and go back to using it as you would normally..
• Melanocyl lotion is prescribed along with uv-a rays for the treatment of vitiligo and psoriasis.
• Wear uva-absorbing, wrap-around sunglasses and cover skin or use a sunblock (spf 15) for the 24 hours following treatment with melanocyl lotion.
• Do not use perfumes, aftershave, deodorants, or other cosmetics and toiletries while using melanocyl lotion as they make your skin even more sensitive, causing blistering of your skin.
• Use extra caution for at least 48 hours following each treatment.
After each treatment, cover your skin for at least 8 hours by wearing protective clothing.
• Never use melanocyl lotion more than the prescribed dose as it may cause burning or blistering of your skin after exposure to uv light.
• Do not use it if you have a history of melanoma or certain other types of skin cancer.

• Melanocyl + Anagrelide: Concurrent use of melanocyl and anagrelide may result in increased anagrelide exposure.
• Melanocyl + Tegafur: Concurrent use of tegafur and melanocyl may result in decreased exposure of 5-fluorouracil.
Moderate
• Melanocyl + Agomelatine: Concurrent use of agomelatine with melanocyl may increase exposure to agomelatine.
• Melanocyl + Phenytoin: Concurrent use of melanocyl and phenytoin may result in decreased melanocyl effectiveness.
