FAQ

1. What are enam tablets? What is it used for?
Ans: Enam tablets belong to a group of drugs known as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ace) inhibitors. It relaxes and widens the blood vessels, which makes it easier for blood to pass through the vessels. This means the heart no longer has to work to eject blood. As the workload on the heart is reduced, it helps lower blood pressure and thus reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke. It is also used to treat and prevent congestive heart failure.
2. Do enam tablets cause excessive urination? Can kidney damage occur?
Ans: No, enam tablets do not cause excessive urination (loss of water through urine). The use of enam tablets cannot affect the normal function of the kidneys. However, kidney damage may occur if enam tablets are given with diuretics (water pills, drugs that increase urine production). In this case, the diuretic should be discontinued or the dose reduced. If you have severe heart failure or if your kidneys are already affected, you are at risk for kidney failure. However, timely and adequate treatment can reverse the damage done to the kidneys.
3. Can one tablet of enam tablets affect my liver?
Ans: In rare cases, enam tablets can cause yellowing of the skin and eyes, loss of appetite, and elevated liver enzymes. It can also cause significant liver damage and even death. Therefore, if you experience such symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.
