Babies: Not applicable.
Lactating mothers: Eliquis tablet is considered unsafe to use during breastfeeding, and limited human data state that the drug may pass into breast milk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy: Eliquis tablet is considered safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies state that the drug has shown low or no adverse effects on the developing baby.
However, there are limited studies.
Driving: It is safe to drive while taking this medication as it does not usually affect your driving ability.
Alcohol: Caution is advised while consuming alcohol along with this tablet.

Kidney: Eliquis tablets should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible.
If it is near the time of the next dose, then skip the missed dose.
Take the prescribed dose on your regular time daily.
Don't double the dose to catch up with the missed dose..
• For appropriate benefit, continue to take the medication at the same time every day.
It is preferred to take at night with meals
• It interacts less with food or other medicines.
Hence, frequent dose changes are not required
• It increases your risk of bleeding.
Be cautious while shaving, cutting fingernails or toenails, using sharp objects, or engaging in contact sports (e.G.
Football, wrestling)
• Inform your doctor if you notice blood in your vomit, urine, or stool (black, tarry stools or bright red blood)
• Quit the medication if you are planned to have surgery or dental treatment
• Inform your doctor if you have any kidney problem
• Don’t quit the medication without talking to your doctor.
Contraindicated • Eliquis + Mifepristone: Mifepristone increases toxicity of eliquis by anticoagulation • Eliquis + Rifabutin: Rifabutin will decrease the level or effect of eliquis by affecting hepatic/ intestinal enzyme cyp3a4 metabolism • Eliquis + Fondaparinux: Concurrent use of these drugs increases anticoagulation • Eliquis + Phenytoin: Phenytoin will decrease the level or effect of eliquis by affecting hepatic/ intestinal enzyme cyp3a4 metabolism Serious • Eliquis + Alteplase: Concurrent use of these drugs increases anticoagulation • Eliquis + Atazanavir: Atazanavir will increase the level or effect of eliquis by affecting hepatic/ intestinal enzyme cyp3a4 metabolism • Eliquis + Mefenamic acid: Concurrent use of these drugs increases anticoagulation.
