Augpen is in a class of medications called a penicillin-like antibiotic. it works by inhibiting the formation of the bacterial cell wall synthesis, which is essential for the survival of the bacteria in the human body. clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that reduces antibiotic resistance towards bacteria and enhances the activity of amoxycillin. this combination medicine can be used to
hypersensitivity to the penicillins history of a severe immediate hypersensitivity reaction to another beta-lactam agent (e.g. a cephalosporin, carbapenem or monobactam) history of jaundice/hepatic impairment due to amoxicillin/clavulanic acid.
