Apigat tablet is in a class of medications called factor xa inhibitors that works by inhibiting factor xa that prevents the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin, which prevents cross-linked blood clots of fibrin formation. It dissolves the clots and also relieves pain and inflammation by increasing the blood flow. This tablet improves the overall healing process. It also reduces the risk of clots

Babies: Not applicable.
Lactating mothers: Apigat tablet is considered unsafe to use during breastfeeding, and limited human data state that the drug may pass into breast milk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy: Apigat tablet is considered safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies state that the drug has shown low or no adverse effects on the developing baby.
However, there are limited studies.
Driving: It is safe to drive while taking this medication as it does not usually affect your driving ability.
Alcohol: Caution is advised while consuming alcohol along with this tablet.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible.
If it is near the time of the next dose, then skip the missed dose.
Take the prescribed dose on your regular time daily.
Don't double the dose to catch up with the missed dose..
• For appropriate benefit, continue to take the medication at the same time every day.
It is preferred to take at night with meals
• It interacts less with food or other medicines.

Ans: If you have difficulty swallowing the whole tablet, the tablet may be crushed and mixed with water, or 5% dextrose in water, or apple juice or apple puree. Remember to crush the medicine just before you take it.
2. What if I miss a dose of an apigat tablet?
Ans: If a dose is missed, the patient should take this apigat tablet immediately and then continue with twice daily intake as before.
3. What are the side effects of taking an apigat tablet?
Ans: Apigat tablet may cause bleeding in eyes, stomach, nose, etc., and anaemia which may cause tiredness or paleness. It may also lower your blood pressure, making you faint or have a quickened heartbeat and nausea. Blood tests may show an increase in gamma-glutamyltransferase (ggt), which may be due to liver problems.
4. What is the apigat tablet used for?
Ans: Apigat tablet is used to reduce the risk of stroke and blood clots in people who have atrial fibrillation. In atrial fibrillation, the heart beats irregularly, increasing the chance of clots forming in the body and possibly causing strokes. It also helps to reduce the risk of forming a blood clot in the legs and lungs of people who have just had hip or knee replacement surgery and treat blood clots in the veins of your legs (deep vein thrombosis) or lungs (pulmonary embolism), and reduce the risk of occurring again.
