Keratin-Infused and Sulphate-free Shampoos

Sulphate free shampoo hair wash

As women started getting interested in the ingredients of such products, they became more aware of damages from sulphates and parabens in general. This, combined with the great results of sulphate-free and keratin-infused shampoos, got women to opt for these shampoos even without the keratin services. Seen as safer and healthier, especially in Indian climes where people mostly suffer from dryness in hair, keratin shampoos and sulphate-free shampoos have come a long way in the results they deliver.

The shampoo without sulphate that came in earlier was very gentle on hair but was not very effective at the cleansing scalp, leaving it feeling greasy and requiring a sulphate shampoo cleaning every few days. Also, these were loaded with ingredients that left a heavy residue on the hair. The new age shampoos have taken care of such results and what you get now clean very well without stripping the hair of natural oils.

There is, however, a big difference between Keratin-infused shampoos and sulphate-free ones that must not be confused. The Keratin-infused shampoos are mostly meant for post-care of keratin serviced hair, to prolong the life of the Keratin laminate. The shampoos without sulphate-free shampoos, on the other hand, are products meant for use by all and a safer alternative to regular shampoos. Sulphates are anionic surfactants that meant to lather and wash off dirt and grease from hair. These may not be suitable for sensitive scalps and can cause damage to certain hair types. They also cause a lot of frizz after washing due to the charge. So sulphate-free shampoos are always healthier and safe for use by all.

A word of advice, though, that most ayurvedic shampoos are also sulphate free. However, other ingredients in the shampoo are meant to address specific scalp or hair concerns. These shampoos do not generally have the same results in hair texture as the other non-ayurvedic ones and so should not be used for post Keratin service care. For instance, an ayurvedic shampoo for hair fall may be sulphate-free yet have ingredients that are deep cleansers. So, these should be checked for results and concerns specifically before selecting.

Healthy hair

The following is a list of keratin-infused or sulphate-free shampoos that I really like and recommend for use:

• If you are looking for more than the regular commercial products, the Bio-balance range of shampoos that are formulated by a Turkey-based dermaceutical laboratory for conditions like dry hair, dandruff/greasy scalp, and nourishment for hair growth, are all sulphate free and extremely gentle on hair. One of the best sulphate free shampoos.

TRESEMME KERATIN Smooth range is infused with keratin and Argan oil, lending a frizz-free experience. A good shampoo on a budget. This one, though does have sulphates but low in quantity, so as to allow for washing post-oil massages.

• The new Tresemme Sulphate free range is another one that is formulated without sulphates and parabens. Ideally suited for post-chemical services including keratin and for general use.

• For coloured hair, Matrix Biolage Colorlast Shampoo, a sulphate free shampoo from matrix is a good buy. It has a low PH so as to be gentle while cleansing.
